Is a Calorie a Calorie?

Is a calorie a calorie?⠀

Does eating the same amounts of calories from different foods play a role in weight loss?

Are calories from whole plant foods, like fruits, the same as calories from meat and processed food?

The standard procedure for weight loss is largely is to restrict calories… And while this seems to ‘work’ for most people because they’re simply eating “less crap” it’s not very sustainable in the long run - plus you won’t get the results you really want.

Restricting your calories without a sustainable plan will cause you to binge later, completely ruining (if not putting you in a worse place than before) the weight loss you’re aiming for.

There are multiple ways to lose weight, but not all of them are healthy. What you want is a long-lasting way that will allow you to be satiated, while still allowing you to reach your weight loss goals.⠀

Restricting calories too much and doesn’t let the receptors in the stomach and intestines "feel the volume" and will leave you overeating later. It just WILL NOT WORK! Good education must be used for any goals we try to achieve. ⠀

🍊 Foods to focus on that will help you reach your goals are whole plant foods. Foods that are not drenched in oil and salt. A diet centered around whole plant foods will leave you satiated without having to worry about eating too much. In fact, you typically have to eat MORE in volume on a whole food plant-based diet than you would on a standard American diet. ⠀

🎉 It's actually okay to eat a larger volume of food when you transition to more whole plant foods. It's typically necessary to eat more because most plant foods are much less calorically dense than animal products are.⠀

I eat fruit every single day… and I'm not talking about the little Dole cups of fruit cocktail that we were conditioned to eat growing up, I'm talking about a BIG salad bowl of fruit... lots and lots of fruit. Bananas, sapote, sapodilla, grapes, lilikoi, jackfruit, mangoes, dates, berries, melon, cherries, apples, sapodilla, starfruit you name it. Packed with water, easily absorbable/efficiently accessible energy, & fiber which over 97% of us Americans are deficient in fruit rules! ⠀

If you're trying to lose weight, I suggest filling your body with more fruit and begin to feel the shift 🍌🍎
