The Best Organic Bedding Brands for Babies
Choosing organic goes beyond produce shopping, it even involves where your baby sleeps. In addition to purchasing your non-toxic baby furniture and an organic crib mattress - yes, that matters too - you’ll need to take into consideration the type and brand of bedding you use for your baby.
Newborns can sleep up to 20 hours per day, meaning they’ll need to have pure, organic baby sheets and bedding available for them to sleep on. And we all know how many messes baby’s can make (if this is your first, I’ll go ahead and let you know that it’s a lot, babies make messes every day) so you won’t only need a singular set, you’ll need a stockpile!
Luckily, organic baby bedding sets and sheets don’t have to be super expensive - here are a few of my favorite brands that won’t break the bank:
Organic Bedding Brands
There are different types of sheets that you can get, the main ones are organic cotton, flannel, and bamboo + bamboo-cotton mix. Depending on your babies’ preference and skin type (sensitive skin might need to stick to 100% cotton), you can choose from any!
Organic Cotton or 100% Cotton Bedding
When shopping for organic cotton and 100% cotton bedding and crib sheets, you’ll want to double-check that you’re shopping for GOTS-certified cotton. With this type of cotton, you’re getting high-quality organic bedding at a good price.
My personal favorite cotton brand is Burt’s Bees Baby, which can be found in-store and online. You can order (and add them to your baby registry) through Amazon, Zulily, Burt’s Bees Baby, and Target.
If you shop directly from the Burt’s Bees Baby website, check out their crib sets, skirts, and quilts to keep it ALL organic.
Flannel Baby Bedding
Although flannel baby bedding can be included in organic cotton bedding, I decided that it would be better to separate the two when shopping. I’ve found that the BEST organic flannel baby bedding and crib sheets are from Magnolia Organics.
They offer flannel that is 100% organic cotton (GOTS certified) and is grown without the use of pesticides and herbicides and uses azo-free dyes with no heavy metals. Even so, they use fair labor spinning, milling, sewing, and packaging - which is why they’re my go-to for winter baby bedding supplies!
Organic Bamboo Bedding
I could create an entire book about bamboo bedding - but, for now, we’re going to stick to the basics. Bamboo bedding is okay for babies and is much healthier for them and the environment than non-organic bedding.
Bamboo is a natural antimicrobial, and even though during the process of turning it into a textile it loses this property, it is grown without the use of dangerous herbicides and pesticides.
I highly recommend choosing that if you’re looking for an organic bamboo crib sheet that you look at Goumi Kids! They offer a bamboo and organic cotton mix knit crib sheet that is super cute, affordable, and great for the environment and your babies’ health!
Choosing Organic Baby Brands
Obviously, choosing and shopping organically doesn’t just stop (or start) at baby bedding. You should look into organic options for all aspects of your baby’s life, including starting solids or diaper rash cream.
Choosing organic baby products and brands can prevent your little one from being exposed prematurely to dangerous toxins that could stunt their growth and development - as well as create allergies that could be avoided otherwise.
